Content Guidelines

Effective Date: December 17, 2025

1. Introduction

Blacklight is built for creative professionals in the entertainment industry. We understand that artistic expression often pushes boundaries, and we design our policies with this in mind.

Our philosophy: We lean permissive for creative professionals while maintaining a safe environment for all users. We use post-hoc moderation (reviewing reported content) rather than pre-publish review.

These guidelines apply to all content on the Blacklight platform, including EPK profiles, uploaded media, and communications through the platform.

2. Prohibited Content

The following content is strictly prohibited and will be removed:

3. Allowed with Context

We recognize that creative professionals work in industries where certain content is normal and expected. The following is permitted when presented in an appropriate artistic or professional context:

When evaluating reported content, we consider the artistic intent, professional context, and whether the content serves a legitimate purpose in showcasing the artist's work.

4. Copyright and Intellectual Property

You must own or have appropriate licenses for all content you upload to Blacklight. This includes:

Blacklight is not liable for user-uploaded content that infringes on others' copyrights. We operate under the safe harbor provisions of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

5. DMCA Takedown Process

If you believe content on Blacklight infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to our designated agent:

dmca@blklight.net

Your notice must include:

  1. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is infringed
  2. Identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough information to locate it
  3. Your contact information (name, address, phone, email)
  4. A statement that you have a good faith belief the use is not authorized
  5. A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act on behalf of the copyright owner
  6. Your physical or electronic signature

We will respond to valid DMCA notices within 48 hours.

6. Counter-Notification Process

If you believe your content was wrongly removed due to a DMCA notice, you may file a counter-notification. Your counter-notification must include:

  1. Identification of the removed material and its former location
  2. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief the material was removed by mistake
  3. Your name, address, phone number, and email
  4. Consent to the jurisdiction of federal court in your district
  5. Your physical or electronic signature

Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will restore the content within 10-14 business days unless the original complainant notifies us they have filed a lawsuit.

7. Repeat Infringer Policy

In accordance with the DMCA, we maintain a repeat infringer policy:

Strikes may be removed if a counter-notification is successful or if we determine the original claim was invalid.

8. Impersonation

Creating an account or profile that impersonates another person or entity is prohibited. If you believe someone is impersonating you on Blacklight:

We use reactive enforcement for impersonation claims rather than proactive verification at this time.

9. Reporting Content

If you encounter content that violates these guidelines, you can report it through:
